So Texans what's the scoop with Rick Perry who won as a Republican candidate and Bill White who won as a Democrat candidate for the Governor race? They are being compared to each other as night and day. Complete opposites?
And Kay Hutchinson just disintegrated, wow. Do you all think these candidates make for a tight running race for the Governor? Any predictions? or is it too early to say?

A sign the GOP resurrection may not be a given--that twit Arlen Specter is resurging in PA. Just a couple of months ago he was losing his primary fight and is now at double points of his opponent; he also has a lead over Toomy in the polls. The celebrations may be getting ahead of the facts over there at GOP central. |

That said, Hutchison had zero chance in Texas because she is a useless flake (she campaigned on and promised back in 1993 she would only serve two terms as U.S. Senator) and Texas is one of the few states in this country where things are actually working pretty damn well for the most part under former Al Gore campaign manager turned opportunistic conservative Rick "Perfecto Hairdo" Perry. I like Texas, I pay attention to what happens in Texas, I like the people in Texas....I'm headed for Texas

I'm a Texan and a Houstonian, I thought the most interesting part of the primary was Medina, the libertarian candidate, garnering 18% of the vote against the incumbent governor and a current US Senator despite her screw up on the Beck program.
Bill White is a moderate Democrat who showed his leftward tendencies with his welcoming of Katrina victims with free goodies paid for by Houston taxpayers. He cannot win. Been awhile since a Democrat was elected to statewide office. Perry has kept taxes and spending low. That is what I look for in a governor. I voted for Medina but Perry is an acceptable candidate. |

That last poll sure was different than the previous ones. I usually try to get info from at least 5 polls and throw out the two extremes and average the rest. |

I will wait and see who the Libertarians vote for, but right now I am leaning towards Bill White. I have voted against Perry every time he has ran; and in 2006, most Texans agreed with me. (Perry was re-elected in a three-way race with only about 40% of the vote.)
