I would highly disagree with the taxation issue. We attempted the whole taxation through fund raisers as well as charities under the Articles of Confederation, and you know what happened - nothing. The States were to concerned with themselves to even make a reasonable donation to help keep the country safe and running. That's one of the main reasons we had to create an Executive Branch as well as a whole new Constitution. The Executive Branch had been created to reinforce laws rather than go into total Anarchy and allow the people of the United States to run a muck. If you think it's bad now, I don't even want to image what would happen under Anarchy. Groups such as the KKK and any religious fanatics would go around killing people due to their beliefs - and a government would be started once again to protects the peoples lives and interests.
As Thomas Carlyle said, "In the long-run every government is the exact symbol of its people, with their wisdom and unwisdom, we have to say, like people like government." If you believe the government is messed up now, it's because the government represents the majority of the Nation. The government isn't a single entity - it's composed of thousands of people who actually make the decisions. So when you do blame the government you'd be blaming a group of people, and many fail to see that. |

Capitalist Dog, you were referring to life with or without purpose and how that affects your emotions. Well, when people are angered by everyday life they need someone to blame - and what do you know it's the government. I'd rather you help work towards fixing the problem and coming up with a solution, otherwise you'd be like every other politician who goes on ranting about the problem to fails to take action. If you truly believe there's something wrong then take a stand my friend - the problems not going to fix itself. |

The problem is government, and it sure as hell isn't going to fix itself. To do so would require a voluntary elimination of the self-proclaimed right of the political class to initiate aggression against individuals and nations. That is like expecting capitalists to voluntarily turn over their property to the commune. I have no solution. All I can do is post things like, "Hey, Obama! Please, for the love of God, read an economics book!" Its very frustrating. |
