Default Video games improve vision

According to Researchers they have found playing video games can improve contrast eye sensitivity.
Contrast sensitivity is usually the first to be effected from aging.

"Contrast sensitivity" is important in situations such as driving at night, or in conditions of poor visibility.
And they also concluded that spending time in front of a pc monitor is not necessarily harmful to your vision.

I don't know if it can help an old coot like me. The study is all on young people, most in their 20's.

I don't buy the part about the video screens having no effect on your eyes. My vision goes screwy if I read too much on the computer. I'm blurry for 30 minutes.

I know if I stare at anything long enough my vision can get whacky. And still stumped how it would improve it in any color hue.

Is it supposed to help with color? I missed that. Maybe I'm color blind.

Oh it was a mere mention that playing the games helps improve with shades of grey. Nothing major. Not exactly an eye full so easy to miss.

That's not color vision, a_gal. That's the reference to contrast sensitivity and night vision. Gray scale is the rod system of the eyes--black and white. Color uses the cones. You lose color in dim light--the cones don't work under a certain light intensity. Night vision depends on the rods.

Oh for sure I know that. You asked about color vision. I was just playing in my post, see grinning smiley? I have bad night vision. Ask my toes when I hit the furniture in the dark.

Almost a year ago, e-man. Seems like you've been a coot for a while.

Back on topic: Maybe I should start playing video games, because these darn carrots aren't helping at all.
